Art Institute of Sunnyvale wants to know how my education at
this institution will help me reach my career goals. Instead of having faculty
members asking the same question in a different form over and over. So what’s
going to be different this time around? Why do you think you’re ready? What has
changed? Just to clarify the faculty member was addressing my attempt two years
ago to attend the institute. Apparently my admitting I responding I wasn’t
ready didn’t suffice. Maybe I should have told him I’d given up hopes of being
discovered on American Idol and becoming a worldwide pop star. He might have
left me alone. At the very least he could have gone over program details,
Bachelor of Science in Media Art and Animation. Instead he glossed over my interests
(I’m being generous) and pushed a couple of papers regarding my program for me
to go over on my own. I’m assuming he thinks I can read. Not before reiterating
the application process doesn’t begin until I paid the $150 fee and mentioning
the total cost of the program was roughly $90k. Is this standard procedure for
all applicants looking to attend Art Institute? Hope not. I may be benefitting
from an education making myself marketable and networking. It should also be
pointed out that Art Institute would be lucky to have me, unpolished with rough
edges true. A diamond nonetheless. If Art Institute can’t and won’t handle
these intake better they’re in danger of losing not just the undiscovered
talent but their reputation as one of the better Art and Design schools .
